OMCs rule out petrol price cut for now
NEW DELHI: State refiners Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum have ruled out any immediate reduction in petrol prices despite the fact that they currently make a profit of 10 paise a litre on the fuel. "Global crude oil prices are going up again by $1.5 every day. We are selling petrol almost at par (with international rates)," said one HPCL executive, who did not wish to be named.
Company executives say that slashing the price of the fuel can be considered only if a declining trend in international oil prices is sustained for a fortnight. The companies are also trying to recover in part, the Rs 2,400-crore loss incurred earlier in the year
